It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my animal practice in Arizona must be discontinued.

Animal chiropractic is a concept that is not specifically defined in Arizona law.  On one hand, this means that my work is allowed because it is not prohibited by any statute – which is the position taken by the Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Unfortunately, at least one representative of the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board has chosen to see this differently.

They see the lack of specific legal language as cause to shut down the work of animal chiropractors.  Sadly, they have used their influence to convince one of my service locations to discontinue allowing animal chiropractic work to be performed there.   This location constituted more than 70% of my Arizona practice.

My sincere hope is that this will be a temporary hiatus, and I will provide animal chiropractic services in Arizona again one day when circumstances change.  Perhaps someday the veterinary board will recognize the synergy that can occur when veterinarians and chiropractors work side by side to provide integrated care for animals.

If the opportunity to change the laws in Arizona should present itself, I will be happy to step up and help.  We had to address this same obstacle in Minnesota, and finally overcame it in 2008.  Since then, thousands of Minnesota animals have received the benefit of having a veterinarian AND a chiropractor on their health care team.  I hope the same can occur in Arizona someday.

I want to sincerely thank the folks at Bell Rock Veterinary and the Humane Society of Sedona for their friendship and support.  We got a lot of good work done together.   I do believe that momentum will continue somehow…  everything happens for a reason.

All my best to you.  It has been my pleasure meeting and working with each of you, and I do hope that I will see you and your companions again!

Thank you so much for being a part of my Sedona experience,

Dr. Annie
